I’m not a huge believer in our ability to detoxify our bodies. However, I am giving the sequence below a shot. I’m going to measure heavy metals in my body prior to this and a few weeks after to see if they have decreased. I’ll spawn a couple of new acronyms. HMA will stand for heavy metal abatement. Nia-IRS will stand for niacin/infra-red sauna.
IRS is infra-red sauna. Conventional saunas can also be used. But the time in the sauna needs to be increased (perhaps doubled). And I would think that very hot baths would probably do also as long as the time is doubled (bath water at least 105F).
It would be excellent info if an experiment was conducted comparing IR sauna vs. conventional sauna vs. hot baths. This isn’t feasible for one person though since if the heavy metal decrease varies by “detox” # it would cloud the results. Of course if the results are null across the board then we can make some conclusions. But we still wouldn’t know how different people would react.
It doesn’t matter what time you start this. I picked 5:30AM. I try to start sometime between 5:30 and 8:00 AM. And the back inversion probably doesn’t make a lot of difference. I added that to make sure my blood is moving (cardio and workouts almost certainly take care of that anyway!).
| minutes | 2 week NiaIRS once a year | Start | End | |
| 1 | 0 | 2.5-5g niacin/5g lecithin/workout sups | 5:30 AM | 5:30 AM |
| 2 | 90 | Delay | 5:30 AM | 7:00 AM |
| 3 | 20 | cardio (heart rate should be around 100-120) | 7:00 AM | 7:20 AM |
| 4 | 30 | IR sauna | 7:20 AM | 7:50 AM |
| 5 | 2 | Back inversion (hang upside down) | 7:50 AM | 7:52 AM |
| 6 | 60 | workout (focus on deadlifts, squats, bench press, shrugs, pullups), or 30 min cardio on off days | 7:52 AM | 8:52 AM |
| 7 | 30 | IRS – drink mixture of 1tbsp activated charcoal in 16oz water (note that this should start between 3 and 5 hours after niacin consumption) | 8:52 AM | 9:22 AM |
| 8 | 20 | shower/short workout or cardio/electrolytes | 9:22 AM | 9:42 AM |
| 9 | 30 | IRS | 9:42 AM | 10:12 AM |
| 10 | 2 | shower/electrolytes | 10:12 AM | 10:14 AM |
| 11 | 0 | 1tbsp bentonite clay with 8oz water | 10:14 AM | 10:14 AM |
| 12 | 2 | Back inversion (hang upside down) | 10:14 AM | 10:16 AM |
I started my first cycle on 8/25/2020 and the first night I had an incredibly bad headache. It was the worst headache I can remember (I rarely get headaches). I’ve done most everything on the list individually and don’t recall ever having a headache afterwards.
On the second night I had a headache but not nearly as bad as the first night. So I was able to sleep. Yay!
On the third night I had a very slight headache.
On the fourth night I felt fine.
I’ll update this once I am done and have heavy metal test results. Unfortunately they are tainted because I did not receive the test equipment prior to my first day.
And as you can probably see this procedure takes a decent amount of the day and wipes me out. I can’t do a lot the remainder of the day. Today for example I got up at 5 AM to start the IRS and got done around noon.
