Therapies and current status

As of 10/2020

  1. Supplements as detailed in supplement post. I am not certain of the efficacy of most supplements but still take some. However, I plan on paring down the list and cycling more.
  2. Whole food, plant based diet. Lots of vegetables and fruit.
  3. IR sauna 20 minutes a few times a week and for 60 minutes once a week.
  4. Hyperthermia (hot bath) a few times a month.
  5. Moderate exercise about 90 minutes a day (treadmill, exercycle, stepper, eliptical, etc., heart rate target 100-120 BPM).
  6. Intense weight lifting 3-4 hours a week. Bodybuilding style since I am interested in hypertrophy of the muscles. Not for looks! I’m interested in possible metabolic and health benefits and exercise has been strongly linked to better PCa outcomes. I try to focus on the largest muscle groups (glutes, thighs, lats, traps). Glutes make up about a third of a typical person’s muscle mass.
  7. Yoga and Pilates. Mental health, flexibility, and coordination benefits.
  8. I also do a little stretching, balancing, stability, deep breathing, and core body strength work. A lot of what I do is aimed at preventing cardiac problems, mental deterioration, flexibility, and stability issues that are common for older adults.
  9. Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Frequency (PEMF). Very speculative. NASA did a multi-million dollar study on this showing that it can be used for bone growth for their astronauts. There is some research showing that it can be good for PCa. However, I have some doubts about the validity of the studies. I still use PEMF for about an hour or so a day. It’s not hard to do and what I do is put a PEMF mat on a recliner. Sometimes I read or work on the recliner.
  10. Molecular Hydrogen water and gas. Also speculative. But there is some research from the NIH and Japan that indicates that these therapies are very useful for PCa, other cancers, and other health issues. So I aim for about 4-6mg of molecular hydrogen from water each day. I also use a nasal cannula and breath molecular gas for about an hour each day.
  1. Testosterone cypionate injections 400mg/week
  2. HCG injections 900 IU/ week
  3. Finasteride 2.5-5 mg daily
  4. Dutasteride .5mg daily
  5. Zytiga 250/day with food
  6. Prednisone 10mg/day
  7. Metformin 1500mg/day
  8. Statin (fairly low dose) – I take 5-10mg lovastatin since others I’ve tried give me insomnia.
  9. vitamin D (adjust supplements to target serum level about 30-50ng/ml)
  10. Cabergoline 0.25-0.5mg/week
  11. Letrozole 1.25-2.5mg/week

Fat=9.8% Lean=171

My current blood results:

  1. Testosterone: >3000 ng/dl
  2. Free testosterone: 33 ng/dl
  3. Bio-available testosterone: >993 ng/dl
  4. Prolactin: 1.1 ng/ml
  5. Progesterone: 3.39 ng/ml
  6. Estradiol: 4 pg/ml
  7. DHT: 31 ng/dl
  8. PSA: 0.028 ng/ml
  9. CEA: 0.8
  10. AST: 29
  11. ALT: 19
  12. ASP: 111
  13. WBC: 3.9
  14. RBC: 5.1
  15. D: 47 ng/ml (I overshot my target and am letting it come down)
  16. HDL-C: 39 mg/dl
  17. LDL-C: 65 mg/dl
  18. Cholesterol: 135 mg/dl
  19. Triglycerides: 220 mg/dl (high – possibly due to too much fructose in my diet. I’m reducing my fruit intake to see what happens)
