Recover/Kill Diet, Drugs, Sups

Much like chemotherapy or radiation therapy (or even intermittent ADT), I believe that we need to focus on killing the cancer and cancer stem cells but then take some time “off” to boost our immune systems and let our bodies heal.

Antioxidants are one of the primary methods to boost the immune system and decrease inflammation.

However, antioxidants can counter our attempts to eradicate the cancer. Therefore I think that pro-oxidants are necessary during a cytotoxic or kill phase. The reason is simple: cancer has a lot of ROS (reactive oxidative species) and antioxidants help counter this. But to outright kill it we need high ROS. So high that the cancer “strength” is used against it. So we need to flood it with ROS. Normal cells will survive since they don’t have as much ROS to begin with. But cancer cells aren’t able to deal with high ROS dumped on their already high ROS.

An analogy is water. None kills us. Some lets us thrive. Too much and we don’t do well (think about drinking 20 gallons of water in a sitting).

A whole food plant-based diet typically provides an excess of antioxidants.

A Keto diet provides fewer antioxidants and subjects the cancer to metabolic stress. Cancer cells see to be less adaptable to metabolic stress than healthy cells. And Keto is also going to have less antioxidants than a good whole food plant-based diet. Plus you are forcing the cancer to try to use ketones for fuel (Keto diets starve the body of glucose and the body uses ketones as fuel – this principle has been exploited in mainstream medicine for decades).

To this end I am trying a pulsed regimen with supplements/drugs to support it

Many of the supplements act as antioxidants in lower doses but at higher doses act as pro-oxidants.

As time goes on and I collect data on my PSAs, ketones, blood glucose, GKI (Glucose to Ketone Index = [Glucose (mg/dL)]/[18*Ketones(mmol/L)]) and measures of inflammation and immunity I will change the timing if I feel it is necessary. Note that GKI should be less than 4 for a good level of ketosis. Example: BG = 75 mg/dL, Ketones = 2.0 mmol/L, GKI = 75/(18*2) = 2.08.
